The Bean Scoop
|
Fall
and Winter 2002 / 2003 Edition
|
Think
coffee is a twentieth century passion? Think Starbucks
marketing gurus are the only ones to attempt to condense
our love for the bean into short, espresso-cup servings
of pithy phrases? Well, read on…
Here’s a poem from the 18th century that was put to music
by J.S. Bach. I got this from a program at a recital where
this piece was sung by soprano, Phoebe MacRae.
Ei!
Wie schmeckt der Coffee süise, leiblicher als tausend
Küsse, milder als Muscatenwein. Coffee, coffee coffee
muis ich haben; und wenn jemand mich will laben,
ach, ach, ach, so schenkt mir Coffee ein!
Yum! So sweet is the taste
of coffee more beloved than a thousand kisses, smoother
than muscatel wine. Coffee – I must have it and
someone who wants to please me ah – he will just
present me with coffee. |
Kind of elevates the whole experience, dontcha think?
And, while you’re feeling elevated, please enjoy our latest
installment of The Bean Scoop. This edition will most
certainly entertain and inform you while you’re sipping
away at your cup of joe and hanging out on the web.
We bring you:

Alumni Association’s magazine “Trek” (Spring, 2002) that
“by the year 2020, depressive disorders will rank as the
world’s leading cause of disability, ahead of heart disease,
cancer and HIV/AIDS.”)
6. “The Gourmet Coffee
Experience: Tips for Bringing the Specialty
Shop to Your Home,” by Laura Baich.
ENJOY!!
