A comedy that also rates pretty well
on the old weirdometer. Two escaped convicts are mistaken
for gay beauty pageant consultants, and find themselves
advising a small town on their 5 year old beauty pageant
- while noticing the local bank doesn't seem very well secured.
One of them of course falls in love, while the local Sheriff
falls for one of them.
Review:
Okay,
so, you’re going to rent a movie and you’re willing
to suspend your disbelief for the next hour and a half,
right? You sure? Then read on…
The
premise of Happy Texas is definitely out there but
it does provide a fun little ride. The story is simple and
follows the havoc that two imposters wreak on a small town.
There are lots of satisfying, character scenes that should
hold your interest and have the added bonus of moving
the plot along. One cautionary note: this movie involves
children and contains some gratuitously cute moments. Fortunately,
not many. Otherwise the performances are good and the comedy
doesn’t appear forced.
Again,
not a movie for a serious mood. Save this one for a night
when you want to escape.
